Antonella Pacifico a.k.a. Rome in Reverse is an avant-garde dance music producer. She was born and raised in Italy but relocated to Copenhagen. She is a self-taught musician, beginning her journey in Italy and continuing it over Copenhagen. Rome In Reverses new single ‘Oracolo’ is what daydreams are made of. We get up close and personal with the talent, as she answers our in-depth questions.

Who were your first musical influences that you can remember? Who inspired you to start producing music?

Producing Music it was a vocation to me, to be honest, no one really inspired me but  I listened artists like Pink Floyd, Tears for Fears, Kraftwerk , Slow Dive, most of all Moby and Chemical Brothers

What would you like to achieve with your music? What does success look like to you?

Music is the only thing that I would like to do in my life. When I see people enjoy my music that for me is success. It’s where you can share your feelings.

As a self-taught musician, what was the first instrument or piece of electronic gear that you picked up? What made you chose it?

The electric guitar was my first instrument. I also wrote so many songs, sang as well and then I approached so many electronic instruments to create loops and beats like, Korg Kaossillator, Korg drum machine, and synthesizers.

What does your current software/hardware setup currently consist of?

Laptop, Ableton live, Tracktor Kontrol, effects.

Outside of music, what inspires you?

Cooking for my wife, of course.

What kind of relationship do you have with the internet? How does this inform your artistic expression?

I was not really social before, now I’m trying to update myself, especially for my followers.

As a performer or as a member of the audience, what single show has been the most memorable for you?

In Tuscany and  Berlin, the atmosphere and the people really touched me.

How old were you when you produced your first track that you were proud of? What inspired you?

I produced my first track when I was 20 with my old band called Minimitermini. But the one which I was proud of, is called “I have your smell”, the first song by Rome in Reverse, I was 26 years old. What inspired me? My vocation for the music.

Any new or upcoming artists on your radar?

Not really.

Please suggest an album for us to listen to.

From here we go sublime by The Field.

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or gigs in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

I’m working on a new EP. In March I’m on tour in Italy, I have some other upcoming shows and festivals for this summer.

Famous last words?

Why not?
